Hi everyone, I can’t believe another week has gone by.  You are all working so hard.  Well done. You should have everything you need in your homework books but here is a reminder of this week’s activities. English

Rewrite the sentences below, in your best handwriting, adding adjectives and adverbs. Make the sentences more interesting.

  • The boy sat on the sofa.
  • The dog chased the cat.
  • The street was empty.
  • Suddenly the girl shouted.
  • The children played in the park.

In maths we have been looking at the relationship between multiplication and division.  Use your knowledge of multiplication to solve these problems.

Triangles

  1. Some children share 12 strawberries. Each child gets 3 strawberries. How many children are there?
  2. Tulips are sold in bunches of 5. Randle buys 30 tulips. How many bunches does he buy?
  1. Daniel is giving a birthday party. He      has invited nine children. He will give each child a goody-bag containing      ten marbles. How many marbles will he give away in total?

  1. On my birthday I bring in 32 cakes to share with my friends. I have 6 friends. How many cakes do they each get?

 

2. At half time in a football game the coach has prepared 42 pieces of orange. There are 8 players. How many pieces each do they receive?

 3. A manager has 73 pens to display in 10 boxes. How many pens will he use?

Pentagons.

  1. There are 87 books in one box and 34 in the smaller box. Each shelf takes 25 books. How many shelves does there need to be?

 2.   A lorry can carry 35 pallets. The haulage company has 162 pallets to transport. How many lorries need to be used?

 3.   A plane can carry 245 passengers. There are 550 people waiting after a delay due to snow. How many planes will be needed?
