Homework 18.10.13

Hi Horse Chestnuts.

This week has gone so quickly I can’t believe it is homework time again!! I was so impressed by how much effort you put into your homework last week and I loved all your front covers. Thank you.

Below is this week’s homework.  Please come and see me if you need any help or have any questions.

This week we have been planning diary extracts.  For homework you need to write a diary extract from Ruskin’s point of view. Include how Ruskin felt when he woke up, eager to hear the rest of Corky’s story. When he looked out the window and saw the ambulance, he was confused and anxious. Finally when he ran back home devastated by the news of Corky’s death.  Don’t forget to:

  • Write in a chronological order.
  • Write mostly in the past tense.
  • Write in the first person.

Spellings- irregular tense changes.

Maths see separate sheet number bonds involving decimals.

Homework 11.10.13

Inspired by Book Week,  we have been writing some fantastic short stories.  Homework this week is to design a front cover for your story and if you have time you could write a Blurb to convince somebody it is the story for them!

Spellings: We have investigated how many words we could find which sound the same but are spelt differently.  These words are called Homophones.

Maths: We have had great fun learning about, making and describing the properties of 2 and 3D shapes.  Homework this week involves following directions to make shapes.

Homework 04.10.13

Another great week has sped by, thank you to all the children who are working hard to get their homework in on time, and to the parents for supporting their learning.  Here is the homework for this week.

English.   Wearing a School uniform is a good idea.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Divide your page in half and list the arguments for wearing the uniform and the arguments against wearing it.

                                                       AGREE                           DISAGREE

  •
  •

Now write a few sentences to tell me whether you think wearing a school uniform is a good idea.  Try to support your argument with strong adjectives, emotive language and a conditional verb!

Maths.  Telling The Time sheet.  You need to write equivalent times using analogue, digital and 24 hour clocks.
