Homework Due Back on Wednesday 28th January

Hi, after a busy week writing myths and working on fractions I really hope you are all having a well earned break. Did you manage to convince your families to let you cut up lots of fruit, pizzas and cakes to practise your fractions? Here is the homework for this week.

Homework due back on Wednesday 28th January.
English: Our spellings this week are all homophones, write a sentence for each word making sure you choose the correct homophone to make your sentence make sense.
Maths: You have all worked really hard on your fractions this week and I really hope you have seen how important your times tables are. Play the fraction game and complete the equivalent fraction sheet. There are also some websites on the blog where you can find interactive fraction games. (look on the maths page)
Spellings: This week we are learning about homophones, words that sound the same but are spelt differently.
Reading: Please try to read to an adult as often as you can.

Homework due back on Wednesday 14th January 2015

Topic: This week we have been learning all about our new topic – the Romans! We have been looking at examples of Roman art and designing our own mosaics. So for homework, have a go at designing your own mosaic online. The link to the website can be found on our Horse Chestnut blog. Click on the ‘topic’ tab, then click the highlighted word. You can either, print your mosaic off at home or save it and bring it into school to print. If you are unable to use a computer at home please let us know and we will arrange for you to use a school one.

Maths: Please complete the sheets on place value.

This week we are looking at words with the ending ‘ology’. Use a dictionary to find out the meaning of the words which end in ology and explain what the ending means.
